Justice For Colombia
The October meeting of the International Labour Network took place via Zoom on Sunday 25th October 2026 and featured an excellent presentation by Nick MacWilliam of Justice for Colombia. The video of the presentation is also available on our You Tube channel
Justice for Colombia was set up in 2002 by the British trade union movement to support Colombian civil society in its struggle for human rights, labour rights, peace and social justice.

All JFC work is carried out in response to the demands of partners in Colombia: the political activists, trade unionists, peasant organisations, human rights defenders, and other civil society groups who are on the front line in demanding peace and social justice.
UK Labour Party Conference
An ILN member who attended the 2026 UK Labour Party Conference gave an update on events there with particular reference to Palestine solidarity demonstrations outside the event, and the impossibility of getting any international issues debated at the conference.
UK Green Party Conference
Another ILN member fed back from his attendance at the 2026 Green Party of England and Wales Conference and made comparisons between the more friendly, participative atmosphere in the Greens and the more combative nature of the very top down driven UK Labour Party. The conference hit the headlines for the Greens eminent motion on anti Zionism (more information on that is here from the Green Party website).
We talked about the protests against the new Colombian government’s proposal to remove works from art museums because of their “links to communism”. The backlash against this is so strong, including some museums across the country refusing to comply, that the government might have to back down. https://justiceforcolombia.org/government-represses-peaceful-protests-over-erasure-of-history-after-national-museum-exhibits-removed/
