Lourens Soroseb is a Namibian former mining union leader and activist with Namibian Workers United who has faced severe political persecution, job victimization, and violent reprisals for organizing workers. Lourens is a trained firefighter who used to work at the Chinese owned Husab uranium mine in Namibia. For standing up against the exploitation of his fellow workers he was fired and blacklisted. He has been unemployed since October 2022.
Lourens spoke by Zoom at the 25th January 2026 monthly meeting of the International Labour Network and the video is here
We hope to add more videos to our You Tube channel in due course,
I am in personal touch with Lourens and can confirm that his living conditions are dire since he has been blacklisted. It is a tragic human story. If you feel motivated to donate a small amount to Lourens I can facilitate this. Use the Contact Us tab. ILN made a donation to Lourens after he spoke in January but that has long been swallowed up.
