Israeli influence debate in Westminster

The UK Parliament will debate Israel’s influence over UK politics on 22nd June 22 after 115,000 people signed a petition for this. The petition expressed concern over Israeli state-linked and pro-Israel lobbying activity in Britain.

It read: “We feel that the horrific devastation in Gaza, the ongoing suppression of Palestinians in the West Bank, and the UK’s political response underline the urgent need to scrutinise how pro-Israel organisations, networks, and lobbying efforts may shape government decisions, party policy, and public debate.”

A large number of UK MPs in the traditional governing parties are members of Israeli lobbying groups, such as Labour Friends of Israel and Conservative Friends of Israel, and have received considerable donations.
